The Cateys 2024 returns to the prestigious JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London this July to honor the most exceptional operators and businesses in the field. More than 100 judges, chosen for their expertise and industry knowledge, and past success as Catey winners themselves, met for four days of intense debate to discuss the nominees and produce our shortlist.

This year’s shortlist highlights a diverse array of talent across various categories, from groundbreaking chefs to innovative hotels and beyond, showcasing the dynamic and resilient nature of the hospitality sector.

In the fiercely contested Chef Award, talents such as Aktar Islam from Opheem, Jeremy Chan, Mark Birchall from Moor Hall, Nieves Barragán Mohacho from Sabor, and Tom Sellers from Restaurant Story have been acknowledged for their significant culinary achievements.

The Hotel of the Year category is split into two sections: Independent and Group. For the independent segment, nominees include Heckfield Place in Hampshire, The Forest Side in Ambleside, The Grove in Hertfordshire, and The Tawny in Staffordshire. In the group section, renowned names like The Dorchester from the Dorchester Collection, The Langham in London, Fowey Hall from Luxury Family Hotels, and Hilton Birmingham Metropole are in contention.

The Best Use of Technology Award sees innovative entries like Gather & Gather and The Swan Hotel & Spa in Ulverston, highlighting the sector's shift towards digital and technological integration to enhance customer experiences and operational efficiency.

In a special nod to those making their mark on the industry, the Newcomer Award has shortlisted fresh and upcoming entities such as Faru in Durham, Mountain in London, Queen of Cups in Glastonbury, The Mutton at Hazeley Heath in Hampshire, and Upstairs by Tom Shepherd in Staffordshire, all of which have demonstrated exceptional quality and service in a relatively short time frame.

The awards also recognise contributions to public sector catering and sustainability, with the Public Sector Caterer Award including nominees like Helene Askham from St Wilfrid's Catholic High School in West Yorkshire, Nick Collins from Cleverchefs, and Paul Robottom from Signature Dining. Meanwhile, the Sustainable Business Award celebrates those who have innovatively minimised their environmental impact, a crucial aspect as the industry moves towards greener practices.

As the anticipation builds, the hospitality industry looks forward to a night of celebration, recognition, and inspiration. The Cateys 2024 not only honors those at the forefront of hospitality excellence but also sets the benchmark for innovation and quality that others aspire to achieve. The full list of nominees and further details about the event can be accessed on the official Cateys website.
